Books and Reading

#Bookish Bloggers Unite

What is it?

#BookishBloggersUnite is a weekly hashtag that a group of bookish friends participate in to talk about books. Balletbookworm shared hers on Twitter and said I could jump in whenever…there’s no better time like the present, amirite? Thinking up my own content is really hard for me, but I can answer a question like a BOSS. This week it’s all about introductions and it’s hosted by Katy.

Here I go!!!

Who/What got you into reading?
I grew up in a house full of books. My mother was always reading.

What are your favorite genres?
Fiction, Romance, Historical, Manga, Middle grade and graphic novels

What are your least favorite genres?

If you had to choose between bringing a mediocre book series or one great standalone book to a deserted island, which would you pick?
One great, stand-alone book-A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I can finish it and turn right back to page one and start it all over again.

How do you organize your bookshelves? Do you even have any organizational system?
I put them on the shelves and stack them anywhere I can…so I think the answer to the next question is No, I have no system at all…which sucks when you are trying to find a book.

What’s the next book on your TBR that you’re excited about?
I don’t really get excited about books until I’m reading them. I just sort of pick something up impulsively.

Have you ever gone to any book signings? Which was your favorite?

Hardcovers or Paperbacks or eBooks or Audiobooks?

What is your favorite book to recommend that isn’t a common recommendation to new readers?
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn or Pillars of Fire…or does everyone recommend those

What is your favorite book cover of all time?
Any time I get a “What’s your favorite ____” the answer will be “Whatever first popped into my head.” It can make me look like an idiot. This might be one of those times. The first thing that popped into my mind was The Luxe Series. These would be the two covers I loved most. It may also be the only time I can honestly say that the cover made me read the book (ususally I need a blurb/description too.)

What is the ideal reading day for you look like?
As long as I can wear pajamas and be left alone I am good.

What makes you DNF a book?
Hmmm. I don’t DNF books that often. If I’m almost 50 pages in and I still don’t care about the plot or anyone in it I will DNF.

What book are you most excited about in 2018?
Whatever book I pick up next.

Which series/book to you revisit for self-care/nostalgia?
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (am I sounding like a broken record yet?)

Do you have a bookish pet?
I have three cats. 2 adore my husband (ungrateful creeps) and one is scared of his own shadow. Once in a blue moon and can get this one
or this one
to snuggle up to me.

This one is way too scared.

Do you enjoy readathons? If so, which ones can people find you participating in?
I’ve tried and I’ve always failed…miserably.

What is one part of bookish life you enjoy that isn’t reading?
Litsy. Hands down.

Is there a genre you wished you read more of?
Not really.

This was fun! I can’t wait for next week!

  1. I have two dogs and I feel betrayed when one of them goes over the top trying to get attention from my husband. Animals have such funny little personalities. My little boy dog is a scaredy cat as well.
I love your DNF policy – I always stay in a book probably too long before I decide I can’t stand it anymore, though it happens less and less as I lean towards books I am going to enjoy more and more 🙂

    1. I wish I could take credit for that policy. I think someone on Litsy had one like that and I was inspired by it, but it’s only been in the last couple of years that I have been able to DNF and not feel guilty.
