It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date.
I only managed to finish one book. Isn’t that pitiful? Or as they would say in Condorito – ¡PLOP! At least it was a book that made me laugh. I don’t get every single joke, but I think I get 95% of them. There is nothing like Condorito to cheer me up. This is a facsimilie of a 1956 edition, so I also start to realize how old my soul is. The jokes are kind of corny, but I love them.
Nothing new. Let’s move on, shall we? Dang I’m a slow reader.
Book Diet Fails Self-Care
I took full advantage of the “it’s my brithday” rationalizing last week.

Dammit! Whose blog had Crossing Hearts? I need to take better notes. It’s it’s you, please drop a line in the comments so I can link to you 🙂
I may have to stay away from Sue’s blog. It’s dangerous to my wallet! She posted about Awkward Black Girl and I lost all self control when I went to go buy it. This Will Be My Undoing, You Can’t Touch My Hair and The Year of Yes all ended up in my cart. Special dumbass award goes to me for opening my Call Number box *after* I made the Amazon order. This Will Be My Undoing was the selection. Luckily I had time to cancel the Amazon order for it. *whew*
Chew Volume 1 was on Twitter? Litsy? Crap. I can’t remember. Must.Make.Notes.
Passing just kept showing up as “Recommended” on my kindle. I could have sworn I already had a copy, but I couldn’t find it. I’m sure it will show up now that I’ve purchased another one.
Playing in the Dark: Whiteness and the Literary Imagination was something I saw on Twitter…maybe? (I’m seeing a I-need-to-take-notes theme here)
Strange Fruit Vols. 1 and 2 were on Litsy. Unfortunately the Litten who shared the first volume doesn’t have a blog I can link too. Thank you for posting it, Youngreadrshelf!
On the TV
I think I may have gotten my husband addicted to The Ministry of Time. *evil laugh*
On the Soapbox
I’ve been trying to spruce up the blog here and there. This week I added a page for my 2018 Reading Goals and the Goodreads widget. Full disclosure: I don t really use Goodreads much for much of anything since it’s buggy as hell most of the time (well, at least for me.) It is convenient for sharing progress on kindle books so the Goodreads widget is mainly a reflection of my kindle reading. LibraryThing is where I do my real tracking. Too bad there doesn’t seem to be a WordPress widget for it.
I also changed my blog image from the beautiful work by Federico Madrazo y Kuntz to my goofy bitmoji self:
I hated seeing the lovely Countess of Vilches next to some of my profanity when it posted on Twitter.
My next goal is to try and figure out how to control the images that go to Twitter when I post. WTH?
